1.1. Welcome and Roll Call (I min.)
1.2. Norms (1 min.)
1.3. Public Comment
1.3.1. Discussion on class size for 3rd grade and beyond and what identity our school is trying to have. District-wide enrollment has been dropping. This is a larger discussion than we can answer in this meeting but Diane will get some answers to bring to the next SSC meeting. We also may want to survey what people are looking for in a middle school.
2. Information
2.1. English Learners (3 min.)
2.2. Committee Updates (5 min.)
2.2.1. Elena started a new DEIB committee (Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Belonging). It is a sub-committee of SSC. They created some bylaws to guide the work that they do. They are meeting 2x/month.
2.3. SPSA Update (1 min.)
2.3.1. Plans went to school board on Wednesday and principals were there. They had sent questions to principals ahead of time that they were able to answer. SPSA was approved by the board.
2.4. MTSS-Joanne (15 min.)
2.4.1. Joanne MTSS counselor. Half funded by SSC and half by district. 2.4.2. MTSS Is multi-tiered system of supports.
2.4.3. Tier 1: Universal tier - foundation for entire school with core instruction and basic interventions
2.4.4. Tier 2: Small group of students - students who need a little extra assistance meeting academic and behavioral goals
2.4.5. Tier 3: Individual students - students who have significant challenges and haven’t responded to the interventions in Tier 1 or 2.
2.5 Outdoor Ed 5th grade (5-10 min.)
2.5.1. $650 cost includes one week in La Honda in late April at Jones Gulch in heated cabins. Learn about environment, lots of field trips. Work on
getting along in cabin groups. Would SSC be able to support 8
scholarships to cover students who are struggling with these costs.
2.5.2. SSC could redirect money from a reading specialist position that has yet to be filled, and are therefore unlikely to use all the funds.
2.5.3. We may want to anticipate more students and allocate more ($8k, enough for 12 students)
