1. Opening
1.1. Welcome and Roll Call
1.2. Norms
1.3. Public Comment

■ Alex is looking for the SPSA, RCSD website changed and so it may no
longer be up there. Will follow-up on this

2. Information
2.1. English Learners (1 min.)

■ Mentioned in last meeting that 10 students reclassified. Had a ceremony
to recognize this the night of our last SSC meeting
■ Now we currently have 25 students at Roy Cloud that are English learners
■ Have not begun assessments yet, should start in April

2.2. Response to SSC Questions (10 min.)

■ Kristy met with Dr Baker and Wendy Kelly
■ In 2022-23, we will have only two 5th grade classes. Result of there only
being two 4th grade classes this year. We have lost students to private
school, moving and North Star
■ Numbers are low in 6th grade and could go to two 7th grade classes next
year, but Dr. Baker stated that that won’t happen.
■ We will not lose any teachers next year.
■ School of choice deadline just happened. Next year will have four 2nd
grade classrooms due to interest from School of Choice. The hope is that
this helps bolster 3-8 grade enrollment. School of Choice opt-ins was
lower in upper grades, not giving us enough enrollment to make changes
for 4th and 5th grade
■ How many students minimum do we need in 5th grade to keep 3 classes?
Orion had some low enrollment this year but that will not be the same
next year. Same question but for middle school. MS is based on student
contacts, not enrollment. Our MS classes are smaller than most in the
district.
■ Some concerns at SSC that these decisions are being made without input
from Site Council, teachers or parents. Particularly since we voiced these
concerns in December
■ School Boundaries - did we decrease the Roy Cloud boundary? No, we
actually gained some buildings and houses. Some parents bordering
Stulsaft Park asked to be added to the Roy Cloud boundary, but they
were refused.
2.3. Committee Updates (5 min.)

■ DEIB Committee (Elena) – had a meeting on 2/17. In April, recognizing
neurodiversity month. Help students recognize the unique ways they
learn. Displayed on large poster in library. Sam Drazin from Changing
Perspectives (https://changingperspectivesnow.org/) will do sessions via
Zoom with classes.

2.4. Purchase of books-Steffani Lera (5 min.)

■ Allocate funds for library books to enhance and replenish books at the
library around social-emotional learning and current events. Compiled a
list of mainly fiction, both picture books and novels. $3k investment is
requested for the list that’s compiled and additional $2k for additional
books where list needs to be compiled

2.5. Budget Update (5 min.)

■ We have some budget overage from last year that we can spend. We do
need to keep in mind what we’ll need to budget in 2022/23 and may not
be able to count on PTO to fund as much as we have in previous years.

3. Action
3.1. Vote to fund library books

■ Motion by Mary. Seconded by Anna. Approved by all.

3.2. Vote to approve Safety Plan

■ Motion by Mary. Seconded by Anna. Approved by
