Teacher Leading Class at Roy Cloud

Meet Our School Leadership

Ms. Melissa Bowdoin | Principal

It is an honor to introduce myself as the principal of Roy Cloud School and a proud member of this extraordinary school community.

As a seasoned educator, having spent my professional career in both the elementary and middle school sector, I am eager to continue to lead Roy Cloud’s TK-8th grade community and to welcome our new families each year. In addition to my role as an educator, I am first and foremost a person who cherishes relationships. I look forward to cultivating strong bonds with all community members, and getting to know you and your children as valued members of this wonderful community. Roy Cloud is a stellar school. A school I am so proud to be a part of. I look forward to introducing myself and my family to the many wonderful people that call Roy Cloud “home.”

The 2025-2026 school year will mark my 20th year in education. I have served many communities in many different capacities. Some roles include: first grade educator, fourth grade educator, middle school science and DesignThinking educator, Curriculum Specialist, Athletic Director, Dean of Students, Teachers Union President, and as Principal. Teaching holds a very special place in my heart, but it is the position of school leader where I have been most fulfilled in my life’s work. The role of principal provides me the chance to work collaboratively with teachers on a daily basis, while also remaining connected to the students, and their families. I firmly believe that the partnership between home and school helps to build confidence in our students to use their strengths and skills to shape their future and the future of our local and global community.

Mrs. Joanne Ongoco | Interim Vice Principal

I am proud to serve as the Interim Vice Principal of Roy Cloud School and to continue to be part of this incredible school community, where I have had the privilege of working since 2021. In this role, I am committed to supporting our students, staff, and families as we continue to grow and thrive together.

My professional background is rooted in student support, leadership, and relationship-building. I earned my Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Rutgers University, my Master’s degree in School Counseling from New York University, and my Master’s degree in Educational Leadership from San Diego State University, along with an Administrative Services Credential. Prior to joining the Redwood City School District, I worked in a nonprofit organization supporting K–8 students from New York City public schools who were performing below grade level in reading and math, where I also oversaw a middle school campus. I later served as a high school and college counselor within the New York City Department of Education.

I am dedicated to leading with a focus on equity, inclusion, and collaboration—supporting staff and creating a school community where every student and family feels seen, supported, and empowered to thrive. I look forward to bringing my experience in counseling, program leadership, and student support to guide meaningful initiatives and make a positive impact for our students and school community.
